We Won Telly Awards!!
We are excited to have received three awards from the 45th Annual Telly Awards. Afrofantastic: The Transformative World of Afrofuturism was named Silver Winner for Local TV.
We were recognized with a Gold Winner for Editing in Local TV.
Finally, we were awarded a Bronze Winner for DEI: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Local TV.
The Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television across all screens and are judged by leaders from video platforms, television, streaming networks, and production companies. Our project joins winners from companies like Adobe, Calvin Klein, ESPN, LinkedIn, Mother Jones, MTV Entertainment Studio, NASA, PlayStation Studios, and more.
I’m honored that our project received these honors. I’m especially pleased to share these awards with my collaborator, Pete Johnston. When I roped him into this project, I’m sure he could not imagine the journey. I want to thank those who sat with us for an interview and the many people who supported us along the way. When you are doing a project like this, you think it is a good idea, but you might be crazy, so awards help:-)
The Telly Awards are a great place to learn about the scope and innovative work being done across platforms to learn about culture. I’m pleased we were able to stand out enough to garner this attention.
We ARE NOT DONE!
We are also nominated for the NATAS Michigan Emmy Award for Editing and Writing. Stay tuned to see how that one goes!
There is another documentary on the way, but Pete and I need to clear our schedules to complete it. I will keep you in the loop. In the meantime, raise your glasses to AFROFANTASTIC!!
